Crawford E. Davis, 73, of Decatur departed this life on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at his residence. Crawford was born on November 9, 1942 in Tiptonville, TN the only son of Rube Davis and Alfrances (Hardy) Davis. He was affectionately called "Gene" by many of his family and friends. At the age of 18, Crawford moved from Ecorse , Michigan to Decatur, Illinois. While living in Decatur he worked at Wagners Casting Company, Macon Resources and was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his daughters: Vickie (Carlos) Jackson of St. Paul, Minnesota, Tenia (Brian) Jones-Ray of Decatur; he extended his love as a father to: Diana Jones, Julie Price, Fred Jones, Lumon Jones and William Jones; grandchildren: Rayaunna Neal, of Decatur, My'Eisha Jackson of St. Paul, MN, Ray Anthony Neal Jr. of Decatur, Brooklyn Ray of Decatur, longtime companion, Shirley Jones of Decatur, special cousins who was like sisters to him Bridgette Hardy and Theresa Hardy and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and aunt. Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00 Noon Saturday, November 5, 2016 at New Salem Baptist Church with visitation one hour before service.
Burial: Greenwood Cemetery.
