CORNER NAMES VICTIM OF FATAL
SHOOTING IN DECATUR EARLY SUNDAY
DECATUR - Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 27-year-old man at a Decatur residence early Sunday. Macon County Coroner Michael Day identified the man as Demetrius Ford, who lived in Decatur. Lt. Brian Cleary said police responded to the 1400 block of East Hickory at 12:27 a.m. on a call about a shooting at a house. Officers found the victim dead from apparent gunshot wounds. No arrests had been made as of Sunday evening, and police said there was no further information to release. In a statement Sunday afternoon, Day said Ford was pronounced dead early Sunday where his body was found, lying across the front porch of the home on East Hickory Street. Day said an autopsy was scheduled for Sunday at the McLean County Coroner's Morgue in Bloomington and more information would be released once those results were in. An inquest is pending.

Demetrius Dashawn Ford, 27, of Decatur, Illinois passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019. Demetrius was affectionately called "Dee" by his family and friends. He was born on January 30, 1992 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Chana Ford and Tracy Cunningham. Demetrius was educated in Decatur Public Schools and attended Eisenhower High School. He enjoyed listening to music and spending time with his family and friends. Demetrius leaves to cherish his loving memories, his daughter, A'Journee Ford of Decatur; his parents: Chana Ford and Tracy Cunningham; sister, Daneka Ford of Decatur; brothers, Darrious Johnson and Tracy Cunningham, Jr.; maternal grandparents, Morrie (Veda Ann) Ford of Decatur and Carrie (Fox) Ford of St. Louis, Missouri; paternal grandfather, Dickson Taylor of Decatur, Illinois; maternal great grandparents, Minnie Lee Fox and Willis Fox both of Decatur; special aunts, Cynthia (Paul) Ford-Kimball of St. Louis, Missouri and Stella Douglas; special uncle, Morrie Anthony Ford of St. Louis, Missouri; nieces and nephews: De'Mari Ford, Londyn Macklin, J'Kayla Campbell and Brooklynn Ford; along with several maternal and paternal aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Catherine Taylor and his great grandparents. Amos and Ida Ford. "Dee" although gone will never be forgotten! He will be in our hearts forever!
