DECATUR - Mark Edward Lewis, 48, of Springfield, formerly of Decatur, departed this life on Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. Mark was born Jan. 26, 1961, in Decatur, the son of C.M. and Edna Mae Hudson Lewis. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a strong believer in the Lord. He graduated from Lakeview High School in 1979, and he formerly worked at King Pin Lanes. Mark loved to watch movies and spend time with his family. His unique sense of humor put a smile on everyone's face around him. He truly loved his family, and his presence will be missed dearly amongst all of his loved ones. He leaves to cherish his memories: lifelong partner, Melissa Carter; sons, Marcus Lewis and Mark Krushaw-Lewis, both of Springfield, Torriece Jones of Atlanta and Dametreis Laron Nixon of Dallas; daughters, Angela Davis of Decatur and Destiny Lewis of Springfield; brothers, Charlie (Bessie) Lewis of Decatur, Lepolia (Jean) Lewis of Glenwood and Jerry Michael (Brenda) Lewis of Decatur; sisters, Betty Phillips of Decatur and Flora Boyd of Milwaukee; four grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Rufus and Beatrice Gordon; paternal grandparents, Robert and Hattie Bell Johnson Lewis and Mary Lewis; sister, Cynthia Kay Lewis; brother, Clarence Monroe Lewis; and a niece, Sabrina Kay Lewis. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at Walker Funeral Service and
Chapel, located at 2300 E. Cook St., Springfield. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.
m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Cleveland Avenue Church of the Living God Temple No. 4, 904 E.
Cleveland Ave., Decatur, with Overseer E.F. Grey officiating and visitation one hour before service
at the church. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
