SPRINGFIELD — The family of a 29-year-old Decatur woman is pulling together to cope with their grief and making arrangements to care for her two children following her death in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 72 early Saturday. Marshae Robinson died at the scene from injuries suffered in the crash just east of Springfield. She was a passenger in a 2005 Chevy Malibu that police said drove off the right side of the roadway, spun 180 degrees at struck a tree about 3:15 a.m. Saturday. “She was a very hard-working woman, smart, and everybody that met her loved her,” said Reggie Joshway, Robinson's brother. “She was just very friendly, a very outgoing personality and always happy.” The driver, 27-year-old Paris Matthew Williams of Decatur, died Monday night at HSHS St. John's Hospital, also as a result of injuries, according to the Sangamon County Coroner. A 22-year-old female passenger from Decatur was taken to a hospital after the crash and treated for injuries considered serious, police said. Robinson had a 9-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son, said Joshway, 34, who lives in St. Louis. The family has set up a fundraiser through Facebook to help with expenses; the children are being cared for by Robinson’s 52-year-old mother, Marsha Ligon, who also lives in Decatur. Aside from her children, Joshway said Robinson leaves behind two other brothers, a sister and her 55-year-old father, Walter Robinson Sr. Joshway stressed again that they were all doing their best to help each other get through the tragedy and comfort his late sister’s children. He was full of praise for Robinson, whom he said worked hard as a forklift driver to support her family and had a personality that made her a delight to be around. Joshway said the family doesn’t know much about the accident that claimed her life. They understand she was coming home after a night out in Springfield. Her funeral arrangements are being taken care of by Walker Funeral Service. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. until noon Dec. 8 at the Church of Jesus Christ, 125 South Shores Drive, with the funeral beginning at noon. The funeral will be open to the public. Police have said investigation into the crash is continuing.
