Calvin Singleton, 77, of Decatur departed this life on Monday, August 15, 2016 at McKinley Court Nursing Home. Calvin was born on October 21, 1938 in Brownsville, TN the son of Lynn and Catherine (Jarrett) Singleton. Calvin united in holy matrimony to Helen J. Tyus in Brownsville, TN. He was a graduate of Carver High School, Brownsville, TN and a member of St. Peters C.M.E., Brownsville, TN. He retired from United Foods, Bells, TN. He later relocated to Decatur, Illinois where he resided until his passing. Calvin leaves to cherish his loving memories: Helen J. Singleton of Brownsville, TN, children: Calvert (Doris) Singleton, Cletus B. Singleton, Brigitte Singleton all of Brownsville, TN and Leo G. Singleton of Jackson, TN;; brothers: Ollie T. Singleton of Chicago, IL, Harry and Larry Singleton both of Decatur; sisters: Celestine Wilson, Eva J. (Frank) Wilson both of Chicago, IL, Cathalynn Singleton, Pastell (Vernard) Fuller, Clementine Spates all of Decatur; 4 grandchildren: Travis Singleton, Leo G. Singleton, Jr., Brittany Boyd, Brandi Hudson; 3 great grandchildren; special cousins, Roosevelt Singleton and Fred Singleton, special friend, James T. Read. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Services Celebrating his life will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2016 at the House of Miracles Pentecostal Church (441 North Church) with visitation from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Burial: Greenwood Cemetery.
