      MILITARY
      Aquilla enlisted April 19, 1861 in Ohio as a 1st Sergeant in Company C. Ohio 17th Infantry Regiment. Mustered out August 15, 1861 Camp Goddard, Zanesville, Ohio. Enlisted Company A, Ohio 113th Infantry Regiment on August 11, 1862. Promoted to Full 2nd Lieutenant on January 13, 1863. Promoted to Full 1st Lieutenant on April 29, 1863. Mustered out on January 20, 1864. Received honorable discharge on September 16, 1865. He took part in the battles of Mission Ridge, Shilow, the Siege of Vicksburg and others.

      The G.A.R. a fraternal, charitable and patriotic association, limited to men who served in the Union army or navy during the Civil War, and received honorable discharge. The first post was chartered in Decatur, Illinois, April 6, 1866.
