I, Florence C. Warden was affectionately known as "Mother Warden" and "Flo". I left this life to be
present with the Lord on March 5, 2018 at Fairhaven Christian Home. I was 89 years old. I was born
on Christmas day December 25, 1928 in Plainfield, Illinois daughter of Emmitt and Corrine Welch. I
married Kenneth E. Warden, the love of my life and I stood by his side until his home going just a
few years ago. We were blessed to have nine children: Donna, Kenneth Jr., David, Linda, Ruth,
Jaynie, Barbara, Sharon and Kathleen.
I was a Licensed Practical Nurse employed at Decatur Memorial Hospital for many years. Later I
opened my own Daycare in my home called "Flo's Haven". I was known throughout the community for my
acts of kindness. I stood firmly on Matthew 25:35 which says, "For I was hungry and ye gave me meat.
I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you took me in; naked and ye clothed me;
sick and ye visited me. I was in prison and ye came unto me."
I spent my life in obedience to these words. I was a dedicated member of the House of Faith Church
of God In Christ and served as an Usher until my health failed and I could not make it to service on
my own. I'm leaving to cherish my memory: My son David (Marilyn) of Kalamazoo, Michigan "You're now
number 1" and my daughters Linda of Texas, Jaynie and Kathleen of Los Angeles, California, Barbara,
Sharon and Ruth all of Decatur, Illinois "Be STRONG and carry on." My only surviving sister Barbara
(Clarence) Durham of Aurora, Illinois; my beloved grandchildren: Annetta, Alvin, David Jr. Brandon,
Devon, Nichol, Timmi, Ashley, Breauna, Jada, Myles, Keland, Brian, Kenny, Amanda, Ken, Shonda,
Mareea, Rochell, Anthony, Chelsea, Rene and Demian "Don't let the devil trick your mind." To my
great and great-great grandchildren and host of nieces and nephews, "God's Got You!" And lastly my
extended family and friends: Tina Deberry, Alma Taylor, Edna Owen, Virgie Hood and Kittie Ellis.
I was preceded in death by my parents Emmitt and Corrine Welch, brothers, Art, Robert, Leonard,
Eugene, Jessie and Chester Welch, sisters Ella, Mary and Virginia, daughter Donna Warden, son
Kenneth Warden Jr. and my husband Kenneth E. Warden.
