Our beloved Arthur "Boody" Young Sr. 92, of Decatur, Illinois departed this life on Wednesday April
18, 2018 at St. May's Hospital.
Arthur was born on April 24, 1925 in Michigan City, Mississippi to the late Ike and Ola (Hunt)
Young.
Arthur later moved to Brownsville, Tennessee, and then to Decatur Illinois.
Arthur worked at Wagner Casting Company for over 25 years and after his retirement he enjoyed being
a handy man around his home as well as in the homes of others.
On August 24, 1944, Arthur became one in holy matrimony to the late and beautiful Lucille Walker.
This union filled with love and devotion lasted 65 years until Lucille's death on August 4, 2009.
To their union they were blessed with eleven children who loved and cherished their parents dearly.
Arthur accepted Christ into his life and served the Lord first at Community Temple Church of God in
Christ and later continued being a faithful member at House of Miracles Pentecostal Church.
Arthur leaves to cherish his legacy and memories his sons: Arthur (Alma) Young Jr., Leon (Shirley)
Young, Charles (Crystal) Young, Bobby (Barbara) Young and Bryain Young all of Decatur, Illinois;
daughters: Joyce (Ernest) Walker, Cheryl Dampeer, and Melverta (Tony) Wilkins all of Decatur,
Illinois; sister, Jo Anna Hellum of Lebanon, Tennessee and brother, Fred "Pistol" (Dorothy) Young of
Milwaukee, Wisconsin; sisters-in-law: Callie Taylor, Vunner Pirtle, Ruby D. Young of Decatur,
Illinois and Lee Oper Young of Brownsville, Tennessee. Arthur had thirty- three grandchildren,
sixty- six great grandchildren, twenty-six great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins, and friends.
Arthur was proceeded in death by his wife Lucille (Walker) Young; daughter, Brenda Young; sons,
Dennis Young and Freddie T. Young; sisters, Melverta Bond and Lue Bertha Hawkins; brothers: Mack
Young, Charlie Young, and Frank Young; parents: Ike and Ola (Hunt) Young; father-in-law, Nathan
Walker and mother-in-law, Fannie Walker; sister-in-law, Francis Young; brothers-in-law: John D.
Pirtle, Eldridge Taylor, Bates Bond, and Jimmy Hellum.
